DESCRIPTION This +5 coldiron greatsword of magical beast bane is emblazoned with the head of a roaring lion on either side of its hilt. The blade enables its wielder to charm up to 30 HD of forest animals as per the spell charm animals at will, no two of which can be more than 30 feet apart (Will DC 24 negates, animals get a +5 bonus if currently under attack by the wielder or his allies). The wielder can communicate with the animals as if using a speak with animals spell. Animals making their saving throws are free of control, but they will not approach within 10 feet of the greatsword. as far as i know bane weapons just deal extra damage that one should do about 2d6 damage to the type mentioned. | ||||||

Bane weapons also treat the weapon's enhancement bonus as being +2 higher than normal, or +7 in this case; theoretically, it should qualify as an "epic weapon" for the purpose of overcoming Damage Reduction (such as that possessed by the Tarrasque). Beyond that, however, the weapon is imbued with charm animals and speak with animals spell effects, much like how the epic weapon, souldrinker, inflicts an energy drain spell-effect with each successful hit. Specifically, the beastmaster is directly based off of the trident of fish command, except that it affects forest animals instead of aquatic, the effect is usuable at will, and it is treated as being 8th-level instead of 4th; hence the tremendous price tag. | ||||||
